Council

To keep up-to-date on the current items before Council, agendas are published four days before the meeting and minutes are posted after they are approved at the following meeting. Council meetings are governed by the South Huron Procedural By-law.

If you would like to submit correspondence to Council, please follow the direction found on our Correspondence to Council page.

If you would like to appear before Council at a regularly scheduled meeting, please submit a delegation request.

If you would like to submit a petition to Council, please follow the submitting petition guidelines.

Mayor and Council provide congratulatory certificates to commemorate milestone anniversaries, birthdays or other special honours. If you would like to request a certificate please complete the Request for a Commemorative Certificate.

It is the role of the Head of Council (the Mayor):

  • to act as chief executive officer of the municipality;
  • to preside over council meetings;
  • to provide leadership to council;
  • to represent the municipality at official functions; and
  • to carry out the duties as the head of council under this or any other act.

It is the role of Council:

  • to represent the public and to consider the well-being and interests of the municipality;
  • to develop and evaluate the policies and programs of the municipality;
  • to determine which services the municipality provides;
  • to ensure that administrative practices and procedures are in place to;
  • implement the decisions of council;
  • to maintain the financial integrity of the municipality; and
  • to carry out the duties of council under this or any other act.
